Public kiss Onno Hoes condemned

The CDA and PvdA fractions in Maastricht think mayor Hoes should be more aware of his public function. Pictures serviced in the media, showing Hoes kissing another man, not being his husband, on the mouth, in the lobby of a hotel. The CDA, the largest party in Maastricht, states Hoes should realize he's mayor 24 hours of the day. Kissing another man in public could become an obstacle in his career, even though it's a private matter, according to chairman Vivianne Heijnen. The eyes of the public will now be more focused on Hoes. His husband, RTL Boulevard host, Albert Verlinde, is very familiar with how things like this can pan out. Now they find themselves in the spotlight, which is very unpleasant, according to Heijnen. He does add a strong person will not as easily succumb to such practices. Hoes' own party does not see a problem. The pictures have nothing to do with his performance on the job, according to fraction leader Michel Severijns. Hoes will be solely responsible for any consequences. Mayor Onno Hoes will make a statement later in the afternoon, according to his spokesperson.
