Doctors’ smartphones are source of hospital infections

A new study reveals that doctors’ smartphones can carry viruses and bacteria and are a source of hospital infections. Smartphone / Wikimedia In the Netherlands, four out of five doctors have a smartphone for quick access to information. The study, published in Medisch Contact medical magazine, was conducted by student researcher Stijn Feet of the VUmc Medical Help. The researchers found that doctors use smartphones during contact with patients. They also found that 42% to 95% of the phones appeared to be infected with bacteria coming from the hospital.
