Man sets himself on fire

A 46-year-old Tilburg resident tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire. He did this in front of a supermarket where there were many witnesses.The man purchased turpentine in the supermarket and mentioned he would hurt himself, according to the Brabants Dagblad. He then went outside, poured the turpentine all over himself and set himself on fire. Bystanders reportedly put out the fire with water from the flower stall.

The man was coherent after his deed. He was taken to hospital with burns all over his body. His condition is critical, according to the police.

The man is known in the medical circuit, said the police. His motive is yet unknown..
