Time to apologize for Srebrenica

The Dutch government should apologize to the families of three Muslim men who were killed by the Bosnian Serb army during the fall of Srebrenica in 1995. The former chairman Bert Bakker (D66) of the parliamentary committee of inquiry, which investigated the fall of the enclave, stated this in Nieuwsuur. He never understood why the government is so reluctant to offer excuses, said Bakker. Now that the Supreme Court confirmed the legal liability of The Netherlands today for the death of the three men, it would be appropriate to follow up with apologies. Prime Minister Rutte did not want to say whether the government is going to offer apologies. The opposition in parliament also urges to do so.
