Weekers eases voluntary repentance arrangements

State Secretary Weekers eases the temporary repentance arrangements for 'black' savers. Those who voluntarily report to the tax authorities before July 1, 2014 do not have to pay a fine. The reason for the easing is a new tax system for income tax, where good Samaritans get clarity sooner and rules for malicious be stricter. Author: Bic Illegal savers would do well to report themselves to the Tax authorities, says Weekers. Soon, the Tax authorities can issue Tax returns up to twelve years back and impose fines. Illegals savers can turn themselves in until July 1, 2014. After that it is done with the leniency, says the State Secretary, and the current repentance arrangement will take effect again. The fine for tax evasion in box 3 equals 30 percent. From July 1, 2015 it goes up to 60 percent. In April the Tax authorities reported that 250 people with foreign bank accounts had turned themselves in. The number clearly increased compared to earlier years. In 2012 a total of 315 people reported their foreign bank accounts to the Tax Department.
