Worlds Largest Crane By Huisman
Huisman Schiedam is going to build the largest crane in the world, for the new offshore wind farm installation vessel Scylla. The specialist in the construction of heavy equipment for the offshore industry was commissioned by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries, announced Huisman on Monday.
Samsung Heavy Industries builds for the British Seajacks world's largest and most advanced offshore wind farm installation vessel. The order for Huisman to supply the crane for this ship is worth tens of millions of euro. Besides the main crane Huisman also provides two auxiliary cranes.
It is the third crane that Huisman delivers to Seajacks, which is used in the installation of wind turbines and foundations of offshore wind farms. The Scylla is specially designed to meet the requirements for the construction of wind farms in the UK and Scottish waters and the other Northwest European market.
It is the second South Korean order for Huisman in a few months time. Hyundai Heavy Industries recently placed an order for a crane and pipelines laying system for a pipelines laying vessel.
