Fine For Corpse Smell

The municipality of Midden-Drenthe has again imposed a fine of 50,000 euro to offal processor Noblesse Proteins in Wijster (Drenthe) The reason: serious foul odor. Dozens of complaints of local residents, living near the offal processor, were received by the municipality about the ‘corpse smell’. Measurements of the municipality point out that the odor standards are exceeded, said a spokeswoman for Midden-Drenthe on Thursday. Offal Processor Noblesse received also a penalty late last year. In November 2012 inhabitants of the villages and Wijster and Drijber, blocked the access to the company as a protest against the smell. They then said that they can keep the inside environment of their homes only up with air fresheners. According to the municipality everything was well for a long time now, until this summer the stench rose again. This is not only because of the hot weather, the spokeswoman said.
