Kinderdijk Is Doing Well

The administrators of the world famous windmills of Kinderdijk can look at the future with much more confidence than about a year ago. By drastic changes, the financial position of the Foundation World Heritage Kinderdijk has significantly improved. "Last year we were financially on the brink, but fortunately that's no longer the case,'' said a spokeswoman for the foundation on Tuesday. To improve the financial position of the top tourist destination, the municipality Molenwaard took over the operation and has taken marketing-wise a completely different path. 'In the folders for tours and the guides during a tour, highlight now more than before, the need for the maintenance of the mills and the costs involved. That encourages enthusiasts to provide for a donation for the maintenance.
