Record For Zwarte Cross

The 17th edition of the festival Zwarte Cross was again a great success. With 162,795 visitors a record was set. That announced the organization on Sunday. Until Sunday afternoon everything was relatively quiet. The police reported that they had only a total of 12 arrests so far, for theft, public violence and possession of hard drugs. However later on Sunday there was a big brawl. Two people got injured and the police arrested 15 person. According to a spokeswoman of the police, the injured were taken to a hospital. She could not say anything about the nature of the injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the brawl. Hotel Grasnapolsky With Hotel Grasnapolsky the Zwarte Cross Festival in Lichtenvoorde, had a remarkably successful shelter for festival goer. For the first time music lovers did not only have to bathe in the mud, but also in luxury. There was a new luxurious camping hotel. The temporary hotel had a lobby like a normal family hotel, were people could take shelter for rain showers or join some of the organized activities, like playing bingo. There were 140 private tents with private shower, bed (sleeping bag could be taken home after the stay), furniture and shared use of hot tubs. Hennie and Jan Crabs from neighboring Zelhem were enthusiastic. "We never camp because we have no tent. In this way it is very nice, because there is some luxury and that’s what we want."
