Lack of Jobs in Games Industry

The Dutch industry can not accommodate the large number of university graduates, devs said. Frans Mäyrä/flickr Students in the Netherlands have difficulty finding jobs in their country’s games industry. The lack of employment opportunities has pushed them to look for work overseas, local developers say. In the recent years, Games course has become a trend in the country because of the increased popularity of games. It has also turned into an attractive career path. However, due to shortage of development studios and work prospects, the industry is unable to meet the demands of graduates and applicants. “[An] interesting problem we’re facing is the amount of students graduating from game-oriented education,” Digital Dreams CEO and Technical Director Thijmen Bink told Develop. “Since the games industry became hot four-to-five years ago, a lot of schools have jumped on the bandwagon,” he added.
