Netherlands Defeats Rival Germany
The Dutch team walked away with a nail-biting last-minute win when they faced Germany in the UEFA Under-21 Championship tournament Thursday night.
Midfielders Adam Maher and Georginio Wijnaldum both managed to score goals allowing the young Oranje team to maintain a lead in the first half. Germany’s Sebastian Rudy and Lewis Holtby also secured goals following the restart which brought the sides level. It was in extra time when the Netherlands’ unmarked Leroy Fer stole the match with a goal by heading in Marco van Ginkel's corner in the 93rd minute. After an exciting tight match, Netherlands was victorious against their challenger (3-2).
