25% of Amsterdam Hotels Violate Rules

One quarter of the 53 hotels in Amsterdam that were audited by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment during the crowning were found to have violated rules. Auditors noted one or more violations in fourteen hotels. Because 31 cases required additional investigation the auditors expect the total number of violations to rise. Nu.nl reported that violations included illegal employees, underpayment, and a violation of the law on working hours. The auditors said that the hotel industry is a high-risk one. Because a high number of expected guests usually go with an increasing probability of violations, the Ministry chose to audit hotels during the crowning.
