Extra Millions for Retailers on April 30
The inauguration of Willem-Alexander on April 30 will bring an extra income of a few million euro to retailers. However, this figure does not come close to the extra income earned during soccer championships, according to a representative of Detailhandel Nederland.
RTL.nl reported that people especially spend money on pastry, such as the Dutch orange ‘tompoezen’ and orange cake 'vlaai'. Orange items like t-shirts, cups and spoons are popular as well.
The hospitality industry can also count on extra income. Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, the organization that represents hospitality business owners, predicts that 44 percent of people between 16 and 64 years old will pay a visit to a bar or restaurant on the day of the inauguration. This is 7 percent more than last year's figure.
