King's Salary Too High

About 20,000 people want the House to debate on the salary of the future king, Willem-Alexander. They have signed a citizens initiative of the New Republican Society (NRG) circulated in recent weeks. To get the issue on the agenda of the House, supporters must get 40,000 signatures, as reported by campaign leader Hans Maessen of the NRG on Thursday. The society thinks that a net salary of 150,000 euro is enough for King Willem-Alexander. After the inauguration, the king will earn 850,000 euro per year tax free.
