High Bills Due To The Cold

Residents of the Netherlands used more energy in 2012 than in the year before because of the cold weather. The beginning of 2012 was particularly cold. Then the country experienced the first cold wave since 1997. Temperatures did not reach zero for a week. People then used 1.3 percent more energy than in 2011. According to RTL.nl the use of coal to generate electricity increased significantly by 16 percent. Power companies Eneco and Nuon announced another price decrease starting from the 1st of July. Last January, they also lowered their prices by about 80 euros.
