Two years of forensic investigation resulted in a small breakthrough in the investigation into a wild-west like shooting on De Clercqstraat in Amsterdam in May 2015. Two men fired between 10 and 20 shots with automatic firearms just after midnight on May 13th, 2015, leaving 25-year-old Youssef El Kahtaoui dead. The police found traces of DNA on one of the fired bullets, was revealed on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday.
Another victim of a gang-related assassination in Amsterdam seems to be a case of mistaken identity. Youssef el Kahtoui from Zaandam was not the intended target of the De Clerqstraat shooting in which he was killed in May last year, Amsterdam prosecutor Hetty Hoekstra said on AT5 program Misdaad BV.
The police believe that the victim of the assassination on De Clercqstraat in Amsterdam-West, 25 year old Youssef El Kahtaoui, was not the intended target of the attack. The scooter that the perpetrators fled on has also been found, in the water of the Kostverlorenvaart.
