On Wednesday a online store was shut down and three homes in Arnhem and one in Hengelo were raided as part of an investigation into sales tax fraud and forgery of documents when importing goods from China, FIOD, the Tax Authority's investigative department, said in a statement on Friday.

A study released Tuesday by Dutch web shop association Thuiswinkel.org has revealed the strong growth of internet purchasers in the Netherlands. Online sales now make up 18 percent of spending in the Netherlands, representing a figure of more than €6.5 billion spent by consumers in the first half of 2014, and an increase of nearly six percent compared with the same period last year.

The internet retail company Bol.com will start selling rings, watches, necklaces and sunglasses, giving the ailing jewelry business a strong competitor, the Algemeen Dagblad reports.
