Three police officers were attacked by a group of at least 20 people in Geldrop on Tuesday afternoon. They felt so threatened that the pulled their firearms to keep the mob at a distance. Four people were arrested, Omroep Brabant reports.

The three cops were writing a ticket on Bogardeind around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The man who was getting the fine got into an argument with the police. When they tried to arrest him, the man's friends stormed out of nearby hotel restaurant De Brabantse Boerin, where they were gathered.

The number of people suspected of violence against people with a public duty, like police officers, firefighters and paramedics, increased by nearly 20 percent last year. In 2017 a total of 8,964 people were suspected of verbally or physically attacking an emergency worker, compared to 7,502 the year before, NOS reports.

A 36-year-old man from Heerlen was arrested in Tilburg on Monday night after he threatened a traffic controller with death and then assaulted a number of police officers, Omroep Brabant reports.

The man lost it when a traffic controller instructed him to wait at the crossing of Ringbaan-West and Van Limburg Stirumlaan around 11:00 p.m. The Heerlen man became aggressive, threatened the traffic controller with death, took his two-way radio and smashed it on the ground. Then the suspect walked up Van Limburg Stirumlaan.

Two robbers crashed their car into a supermarket in the Noord-Holland town of Wormerveer on Tuesday morning, the Zaanstad police said on Twitter.

The incident happened around 8:00 a.m., shortly before the supermarket on Krommenieerweg opened. Once inside, the robbers threatened the store employees. The fled on foot, with an unknown amount of stolen goods. No one was injured, the police said to NH Nieuws.

Mayor Wil Houben of Voerendaal was threatened with a firearm two weeks ago, the Public Prosecutor confirmed to NOS after reports in De Limburger.

Houben was driving on the outskirts of the town when a man wearing a balaclava stepped into the road and pointed a gun at him. "It was almost surreal", the mayor said to De Limburger. "Out of nowhere there was someone with a balaclava and a handgun in front of my car holding me at gunpoint. He came closer and closer. Then you know instinctively that something is very wrong. My mind said 'drive', and my body did its job."

Brave pupils of the Scala college in Alphen aan den Rijn chased a man waving two knives out of their school on Wednesday. No one was injured.

Video footage of the incident shows the man making stabbing motions towards the pupils at the school on Diamantstraat. A group of pupils chased him off by throwing their school bags at him.

Police officers in bullet-proof vests were spotted at secondary school My College on Zinkseweg in Spijkenisse on Thursday. They are investigating a threat, according to NOS.

The students are still at the school and lessons are continuing as normal, the police said, according to ANP. A spokesperson would not give the news wire any further information about the incident.

The Amsterdam mayor, police and Public Prosecutor are concerned about a seeming shift towards more invisible forms of crime in the Dutch the capital, they said in a report on Monday. With "invisible" crimes they refer to actions that are criminal in nature, but are socially embedded in neighborhoods and often out of the control and sight of the government, ANP reports.

A large proportion of this invisible crime has to do with conflicts in the drug world, according to the Amsterdam triangle. These crimes lead to arms trade, money laundering and assassinations.

A prosecutor from the Noord-Nederland Public Prosecution Service is in hiding due to serious threats made against her. She is investigating outlaw motorcycle club No Surrender, but it is not clear whether the threats came from the club, the Telegraaf reports.

Almost at the same time as this prosecutor, Emmen mayor Bouke Arends also went into hiding due to threats received after he closed a No Surrender club house. According to the Public Prosecutor, the mayor and prosecutor going into hiding does not necessarily mean that No Surrender is behind the threats.

Earlier this month the police responded to the prison in Alphen aan den Rijn en masse after a man threatened to shoot the prison staff with an automatic rifle, the Telegraaf reports based on a letter from prison management.

The incident happened on January 17th. Employees are seriously alarmed, the letter states. "As soon as this serious threat became known to the penitentiary institution, it was taken very seriously. The police came into action immediately. An investigation is ongoing", the Judicial Institutions Department explained to the newspaper.

A bloodied, beheaded doll was found in front of the Emir Sultan Mosque in Amsterdam Noord early Thursday morning. The doll's body, found laying below the severed head attached by metal hook to a fence, had a note denouncing "Islamization" pinned to it.

"I'm asking you not to worry about this incident," mosque president Kamber Şener wrote on Facebook, saying they reported the incident to police. "I hope they will find the perpetrators as soon as they can," he continued, asking for the city to unite against such incidents.

The Dol-fijn swimming pool in Maassluis had to hire in extra security due to threats received after PVV leader Geert Wilders posted a critical tweet about the pool on Twitter earlier this week. "We owe all this to Geert Wilders", Dol-fijn manager Richard Ritmeester said to newspaper AD.

This commotion started because of an announcement on the Dol-fijn website. The announcement offered swimming lessons to "(immigrant) women" who want to get their A, B, or C swimming diploma in a screened-off place. "Sharia swimming in the Netherlands", Wilders tweeted.

A reunion planned at the Stedelijk Gymnasium in Breda for Saturday, was canceled after the school received a threatening email. The school felt the threat in the email was serious enough to report to the police, rector Pieter Breuer said to AD.

"It's only one line, but that was enough for us to go to the police. They advised far-reaching security measures. After internal consultation, I decided to postpone the reunion. We expect a thousand guest and we want to keep it festive. That can not be done in this way", the rector said.

A SWAT team fired several shots while arresting a disturbed and aggressive man who barricaded himself in a home on Frederiklaan in Eindhoven on Wednesday. The suspect was injured and was taken to hospital for treatment, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

The suspect did some damage to a neighbor's home and threatened the neighbors with an axe and knife on Wednesday afternoon. He then fled into his own home, threw dozens of boxes through the window and locked himself in.
