Entrepreneurs in retail, hospitality, recreation, agriculture, and horticulture, among others, are protesting against the Labor Market in Balance Act, which is making temporary work more expensive. They will hand a manifesto with their concerns to the permanent parliamentary committee for social affairs and employment on Tuesday afternoon, NU.nl reports.

The number of employees suffering from burn-out symptoms in the Netherlands increased significantly between 2015 and 2017, according to the National Salary Study by university Nyenrode and career site Intermediair. This year 15 percent of Dutch women indicated that they had a burnout, compared to 9,4 percent in 2015. Burnouts hit 9 percent of male employees, compared to 6 percent two years ago.

Dutch with a Turkish or Moroccan backgroun far more often don't have permanent jobs than their Dutc counterparts. Their temporary jobs less often turn into permanent contracts, they spend more time in temporary work or even lose those jobs, according to Statistics Netherlands in its annual report on integration.

The Netherlands' largest cable operator, Ziggo, is dropping 450 employees in its merger with Dutch cable company UPC, NOS reports. Several hundred temporary workers, freelancers, independent contractors and third-party hires will also be let go.
