Some 20 percent of Dutch GP's sometimes give free medicine to patients who can not afford the high cost of healthcare, according to a survey AD did among 300 doctors and nearly 400 pharmacists. This usually involves medicine that was leftover from another patient and was supposed to be destroyed.

Over half a million cardiovascular patients experience problems after switching to the use of cheaper, generic medicine, according to a study done by knowledge institute Nivel among patients and pharmacists. The most common complaints are fatigue and more side effects

DSW Insurance is receiving daily complaints from patients who do not want to pay the pharmacy consultancy charge. This is according to DSW director Chris Oomen in response to reports that nearly half of all pharmacy assistants deal wit aggressive patients on a daily basis.
