One of the suspects in an attack on media outlet Panorama in Amsterdam last year, partially confessed to his role in the attack. During the trial against the three suspects on Monday, 26-year-old Mike van den B. told the court that he was there when a rocket launcher was fired at the building on Teleportboulevard in Amsterdam-Sloterdijk, but that he didn't know that it was going to happen, AD reports.

Dutch journalist Okke Ornstein is in custody in Panama, Dutch journalists' association NVJ announced on Villamedia on Sunday. He was arrested on Tuesday last week when he entered Panama because of articles on his blog Bananama Republic in which he criticized Canadian businessman Monte Friesner, who lives in Panama.

New political movement DENK thinks that journalists should swear an oath in which the promise to exercise their profession faithfully. Such an oath would "help prevent the appearance of distrust, which lives in many people according to research", DENK parliamentarian Tunahan Kuzu said to RTL Nieuws.

Roughly 93 percent of the Netherlands thinks that democracy is the best possible form of government, and 95 percent think it is important to live in a democratically governed nation, a new survey from the Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCP) revealed. Released on Friday, the report also found that 73 percent of people living in the country have a negative view of politics there.

The municipality of Binnenmaas, Zuid-Holland has banned two works created by artist Dirk Hardy. The student of Academie Willem de Kooning in Rotterdam was invited by the municipality to exhibit his work at the town hall. While most work will be displayed as planned, the church has classified two pieces as "hurtful" and unsuitable for the public building.
