After conflicting scientific reports surfaced suggesting dangerous nerve gas elements in passenger aircraft cabins, Infrastructure Secretary Wilma Mansveld now wants European cooperation in researching the situation.The Minister is also establishing a national council to approach the issue.

The Dutch Air Force has made a deal with its Italian counterpart to send F-16 pilots, and likely also F-35 pilots to train on the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 jet trainer with Italian crews. Both parties signed an agreement in which the Dutch Air Force will kick off the cooperation, sending one instructor and two student pilots to train on the M-346 in Italy's Lecce Galatina Air Base near the southern Italian city of Lecce.

Frontex, the agency that oversees the European Union's border control, asked the Netherlands to deploy a coast guard plane to Italy for surveillance over the Mediterranean Sea, the Royal Military Police stated on their Facebook page on Wednesday. Throughout April, the aircraft will be tasked with mapping and reporting on illegal migration flows from North Africa to Europe.

A Dutch Hercules transport aircraft from the Royal Air Force is flying to North Iraq today from Eindhoven, carrying relief goods to UN aid organization OCHA, which will send the goods out to those regions in the area that need it, the Algemeen Dagblad reports.

The U.S. Department of Defense is once again allowing F-35 fighter jets back in the air after a fire on one of the airplanes halted the programme. The Netherlands, which has two test units of the Joint Strike Fighter, had followed the U.S. in grounding the aircraft.

The Ministry of Defence has decided that all F-35 fighter jets from the United States of America are to remain grounded for now due to an incident on the 23rd of June, in which one jet caught fire trying to take off. The Joint Strike Fighter unit (JSF/F-35) includes two Dutch aircrafts, which are also grounded. According to the Ministry of Defense, this is standard procedure.
