Dutch wine production hits second-highest level on record in 2025
Wine producers in the Netherlands recorded a strong harvest year, with production reaching over 1.5 million bottles in 2025. According to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Association of Dutch Wine Producers (VNWP), this makes it the second-best wine year on record.
The VNWP said that a warm, dry, and sunny summer contributed to an excellent grape harvest in the Netherlands. Of total wine production, 74% consisted of white wine, with rosé and red wine making up the remaining 26%.
In the previous year, total wine production in the Netherlands was just over 750,000 bottles, a decline attributed to late-night frost and poor flowering conditions caused by heavy rainfall. The most successful year on record remains 2023, when production exceeded 1.7 million bottles.
The previous year’s wine harvest was produced across 220 vineyards, together accounting for roughly 350 hectares, slightly more than in the year before. According to the report, the growth is the result of both newly established vineyards and the expansion of existing ones.
