Gray, mild weekend looms as rain moves across the Netherlands
The Netherlands will see a mild, mostly gray Saturday, with dry conditions expected through most of the day before rain moves in from the west in the evening, the weather service weeronline reports. Temperatures are forecast to reach around 10 degrees, unusually warm for late November.
The morning will begin under widespread low clouds with no rain, leaving the country under gray skies. Temperatures will range between 6 and 9 degrees, levels normally reached only later in the day at this time of year.
Clouds will remain widespread through the afternoon, with occasional sun possible inland. A moderate to fairly strong southerly wind—3 to 5 Beaufort—will keep temperatures near 10 degrees. Most areas are expected to stay dry until late afternoon, when light rain may reach the far western regions.
Rain will spread across the country in the evening as a weather system advances from the west, shifting winds to the southwest. Along the northwest coast, the wind is likely to strengthen temporarily to powerful gusts, while inland it will ease slightly.
Overnight, the rain will move east and clear, with cloud breaks arriving from the North Sea and temperatures dropping to around 4 degrees in the coldest areas.
Sunday is forecast to bring the first sunshine in several days, with occasional breaks in the clouds. A few isolated showers may develop, but most areas will remain dry. Highs will reach 7 to 8 degrees, accompanied by a moderate to fairly strong westerly wind along the coast. Local showers may linger early Sunday evening, but the night into Monday is expected to stay dry, with light winds and temperatures just above freezing in some regions.
Monday will start dry and relatively sunny, especially in the east. Clouds will increase through the morning as a large rain area crosses the North Sea. Winds will strengthen sharply, building to moderate gusts that become hard along the coast—4 to 7 Beaufort. Light rain could reach the northwest in the afternoon, while most regions remain dry. Highs are expected around 7 degrees.
In the days that follow, little significant precipitation is anticipated. Sunshine will remain limited, and temperatures will stay mild, ranging from 7 to 9 degrees during the day, with nights remaining above freezing.
