Man arrested for cocaine-impaired driving, and girlfriend busted when bailing him out

A couple was arrested within a few hours of each other for allegedly driving under the influence of cocaine in Son en Breugel on Tuesday evening. The man was arrested and taken to Eindhoven police station before his partner was apprehended while on her way to pick him up.

The man was arrested at 7:50 p.m., with his partner taken into custody at 9:30 p.m. Both were given a 24-hour driving ban and ordered to undergo blood tests. If the results exceed the legal limit, they will both be required to appear before a judge.

The police emphasized on Instagram that the suspects’ vehicle will be seized if they are caught driving under the influence again.

According to law firms in the Netherlands, the police or Public Prosecution Service may confiscate a vehicle following a drink- or drug-driving offense, either “to establish the facts” or “to prevent additional infractions.”

Whether a vehicle is seized depends on the circumstances; while it is not always mandatory, authorities may do so in cases of serious or repeated offenses.
