Major road and rail disruptions expected across the Randstad area this weekend

Several construction projects and rail closures will likely make travel within the Randstad area very difficult this weekend. The areas affected include Schiphol, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Eindhoven. Anyone traveling to and from Schiphol has been advised to use public transport and to account for possible delays.

The main issue for travelers will likely be the closure of the A10 ring road. The road connecting the A10 West to the A10 Zuid will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday morning. The connection from the A4 from Schiphol/Rotterdam to the A10 West will also be affected.

Significant congestion is expected on roads like the Hoofddorpplein, Zeilstraat, Stadionweg, Amstelveenseweg, Marathonweg, and the Herculesstraat.

People using public transport will also likely experience travel disruption. There are no trains running from Rotterdam Centraal on the weekend, including on the high-speed line. Replacement buses and metros have been deployed.

The train route between Utrecht and Eindhoven is also experiencing disruptions due to a collision between a passenger train and a truck in Geldermalsen. The current repair works are expected to be resolved by Friday morning, but it is still advised to keep an eye on the NS Travel Planner or app.
