Three minors arrested in Rotterdam over firearm possession
Dutch police arrested three minors on Friday evening, September 26, for possession of multiple firearms, including one converted gas cylinder pistol, police said. Authorities are investigating the case.
Police located the suspects following a tip and searched a Rotterdam residence, where they discovered one replica firearm and one real weapon.
The three suspects are a 17-year-old from Schiedam and two 14-year-olds from Rotterdam. Authorities have not yet determined the precise role of each individual in the incident.
The real firearm was a converted gas cylinder pistol—a type of weapon involved in about half of all gun seizures in the Netherlands. Notably, a similar weapon was found on a 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed by Rotterdam police at a McDonald’s in Capelle.
Police have urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously via Meld Misdaad Anoniem at 0800-7000.
