Woman, 83, stabbed in Geldrop home; Husband arrested

An 83-year-old woman was injured in a stabbing at her home on Winnensland in Geldrop late Wednesday night. Police arrested her 83-year-old husband as a suspect, Omroep Brabant reports.

The woman was taken to a hospital, but police could not confirm the severity of her injuries. The husband was examined by paramedics before being taken into custody, though it is unclear whether he was injured.

A window in a door of the house was broken, but police could not confirm whether it occurred during the stabbing.

Claire van Staaij, a police spokesperson, said the investigation into the stabbing would continue throughout Thursday. Police remained in and around the residence until approximately 3:30 a.m. to secure the scene.
