Amsterdam police release photo of suspect in library assault
Amsterdam police have released a photo of a suspect in connection with an assault at a city library in January, as authorities continue to search for a second attacker.
The incident occurred at the library on Oosterdokskade, where a young man was studying in the quiet room when several youths began making noise. Security personnel addressed the group, but their behavior did not change. The victim also spoke to the youths, to no effect.
Security then asked the youths to leave the library. They complied but remained near the entrance. When the student left the library to get something to eat, two members of the group confronted him. After exchanging a few words, the victim was pushed, punched, and kicked. The attackers fled when security intervened.
Police have identified one of the two suspects. The second suspect remains at large. Authorities said the known suspect had several weeks to turn himself in but did not, and his identity has not been established through other means. As a result, police have now released images showing the suspect clearly.
Anyone with information about the unidentified attacker is urged to contact Amsterdam police.
