Ajax complete signing of Spanish winger Raul Moro; Porto make low bid for Kenneth Taylor
Ajax has completed the signing of Spanish winger Raul Moro from Real Valladolid. The 22-year-old Spaniard has signed a contract with Ajax until 2030. Reports have said that Ajax is spending around 9.5 million euros on the transfer.
"It's no secret that we've been fond of this player for quite some time and have been in contact with him for a while,” said Alex Kroes, the general manager at the Amsterdam club. That's why we're very pleased to have been able to officially welcome Raúl to Amsterdam. Despite strong interest from other clubs, he believes in the sporting vision we've laid out. He's quick, technically skilled, capable of playing on bot
h flanks, and able to beat his opponent both on the inside and the outside. I’m convinced he’s going to bring us a lot of joy.”
Ajax attempted to sign Moro in the winter, but the left winger broke his collarbone in January. “Due to circumstances, which are part of football, that didn’t happen. But the club showed that they were determined to get me here. That was important to me,” Moro said on Ajax’s website.
“I have been longing for this day. I’m joining a club with a rich history. A huge club. A club with a name in Europe,” he said. “I think that this is the ideal place for me to develop as a footballer, a club with young players and a lot of potential. I had zero doubts,” the attacker added.
Moro made his professional debut for Italian club SS Lazio in 2020, after which he played on loan for Ternana, Real Oviedo, and Real Valladolid, who signed him permanently last summer.
There were also reports about a potential outgoing transfer at the Amsterdam club. FC Porto, where Ajax’s former manager Francesco Farioli is now leading the team, has made an offer of 15 million euros for Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor.
The offer seems to be far below the valuation that Ajax has put on the midfielder, who scored 15 goals for the team last season. Farioli and Taylor had a very good working relationship in Amsterdam, but it seems that the Portuguese club will have to significantly increase their offer to obtain the midfielder’s services.
