Over 500 kilos of illegal fireworks seized from two Dutch men at German border

German customs officers intercepted two Dutch nationals attempting to transport more than 36,000 pieces of illegal fireworks from Poland into Germany, according to NU.nl. The seizure occurred during a routine border inspection and totaled over 540 kilograms of fireworks, split between two vehicles.

A 20-year-old man took full responsibility for the fireworks found in both cars, according to a statement released by German customs. He was unable to produce documentation authorizing the transport of the explosive material.

The man reportedly told customs officers he was working on behalf of a family business but declined to provide further details. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the second Dutch national involved.

The confiscated fireworks fall under category F3, which is reserved exclusively for professional use. Private individuals are not permitted to possess or use this category of fireworks under German and EU regulations.

All fireworks have been confiscated, and German prosecutors are continuing their investigation. The 20-year-old man may face criminal charges related to the transport and possession of illegal pyrotechnics.
