Zwolle man gets 6 years for sextortion of 33 girls via TikTok, Snapchat
A 34-year-old man from Zwolle was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for online abuse of 33 girls. Daan F. used Snapchat and TikTok to coerce the victims into taking sexually explicit pictures for him, according to the court ruling. This conviction matches the prosecution's request.
F. posed as a 13- or 14-year old boy in online communications and instructed the girls, mostly aged between 9 and 14, to send nude pictures. The youngest girl was 8. The perpetrator reportedly took screenshots and kept them on his phone.
F. admitted to pursuing such young girls because he believed they would be more likely to do what he wants, reportedly driven by a desire of power and influence. F. was convicted of possessing 1,640 child pornography videos and images.
He kept in touch with some of the girls for extended periods of time, only stopping when parents would file complaints. "Even on the day of his arrest, he was still in contact with one of the girls," the judge noted.
The court, along with the Public Prosecution Service, believes there may be up to 100 victims, though only 33 have been identified. "The court heavily criticizes the defendant for depriving many victims of their carefree childhood," the judge said.
