Two crew members hurt when ship crashed into windmill on North Sea
A ship collided with a windmill in the North Sea off the coast of Noord-Holland on Sunday morning. Two crew members got hurt, the rescue institution KNRM reported.
The accident happened just before 7:00 a.m., about 24 kilometers from Callantsoog. Several ships from the coast guard and the KNRM responded to the supply ship, named Glomar Venture.
Rescue workers treated the two injured crew members on the ship before the KNRM brought them to the Den Helder coast. From there, they were taken to a hospital, the KNRM reported. The Glomar Venture was able to reach the port of Den Helder under its own power.
The Glomar Venture belongs to a Dutch offshore company and sails under the flag of Panama, NU.nl reported. The supply ship had eight crew members on board when the accident happened.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. The extent of the damage to the ship and the windmill is unclear.
