No major court cases at The Hague courts during NATO summit to free up police resources

In the week of the NATO summit, which will take place from June 23 to 27, no significant or high-risk trials will be held in The Hague's courts. This decision aims to prevent the need for additional police resources during the event.

According to the court's announcement to Omroep West, multi-day hearings, cases involving demonstrations expected at the courthouse, or trials where tensions may rise between defendants and victims or their families, will be postponed.

While these cases are being delayed, the court assured that there will be enough police presence to handle routine hearings and the transport of suspects to and from the courthouse.

A significant portion of the Dutch police force will be deployed during the NATO summit, which has impacted other events in the region. For example, the popular Varend Corso in Westland, a parade of decorated boats, will be canceled due to the shortage of available law enforcement personnel during that period.
