Highs of 22˚C today could be repeated tomorrow; Colder weather expected from Sunday

Temperatures peaked at up to 22 degrees Celsius on Thursday afternoon in the Netherlands, a mark that was set in Arcen, Limburg on a mostly sunny day. Most of the country reached about 20 degrees during the day, except on the Wadden Islands where it was a bit chillier, and the southeast where it was warmer. Similarly warm spring weather, with very little wind, is also expected to hit the Netherlands on Friday, according to Weeronline.

Despite the warm weather on Thursday afternoon the evening temperatures are set to drop significantly overnight. The sun will go down at around 8:15 p.m. and temperatures will then drop to between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius in most of the country with the east having a colder evening with temperatures of around 3 degrees Celsius.

Friday is expected to be another warm day. Morning temperatures will be between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures in the afternoon rising as high as 22 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will be lower in areas along colder coastal waters.

The weekend will see a drop in temperature, though it could still feel warm in the sunshine. The dry day should be quite pleasant with "a great deal of sun," according to Dutch meteorological office KNMI. A moderate northeasterly wind brings cooler air to the Netherlands in the weekend.

The wind will reach the northern parts of the country first, resulting in lower maximum temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees Celsius on Sunday. That said, the mercury can rise to between 15 to 19 degrees Celsius in middle and southern parts of the country.

Anybody planning on enjoying the warm, sunny weather would be smart to do so in the next few days as temperatures are expected to drop to around 10 to 15 degrees Celsius after the weekend. The nights will also be a bit colder, with a chance of light frost.

Although it may be cooler, it should remain dry and sunny, according to the KNMI. The high temperature next week is expected ro remain around the long-term average of about 12-14 degrees during the day, and 4-5 degrees during the overnight hours. That situation is expected to remain into mid-April.
