Dutch couple killed in car crash in Egypt
A Dutch couple from Brabant died in a traffic accident on Friday in southern Egypt, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. The accident occurred on the Marsa Alam-New Quseir road when a minibus, carrying tourists, collided with a pick-up truck, Brabants Dagblad reported. Four people were killed in the crash, including two Egyptians and the couple—a 55-year-old man and his 54-year-old wife.
Local media reports indicate that the woman sustained severe injuries, including a suspected brain hemorrhage and skull fracture, from the impact of the crash. Despite efforts to revive her, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
Both the man and woman’s bodies have been transferred to a local morgue. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that consular assistance is being provided to the family members of the deceased.
The couple was en route to Sharm El-Sheikh airport, a resort town on the Red Sea, at the time of the accident.
