Violence in Amsterdam-Noord: home is struck by explosion and shot at within 24 hours
A home on the Krabbendamstraat in Amsterdam-Noord was struck by an explosion in the evening hours of Tuesday leading into Wednesday. This came a day after the same home had been struck by gunfire. This was confirmed by a police spokesperson after initial reporting by AT5. Nobody was injured during the incidents, but there was damage to the home.
The explosion occurred at around 5 a.m. No suspect has been arrested for the incident.
Police arrested one suspect after the shooting on Monday evening. However, it has now been proven that this person had nothing to do with the shooting. Several people were inside the home watching TV when it was shot at with the use of an automatic weapon. Several bullets flew through the window. Police stated that they found dozens of bullet casings at the scene.
An extra camera has been placed in the area as a result of the incidents. There were already surveillance cameras in the area during the incidents.
Another incident occurred in Amsterdam-Noord on 02:45 a.m. on Wednesday. A home on the Egmondenstraat was severely damaged, but nobody was injured. There were no arrests made for this incident.
A police spokesperson reported that a link between the explosions is not being investigated but is also not being ruled out.
