Police still in the dark about drag queen's murder in Zaandam
The police are still in the dark about the murder of 35-year-old William Caceres Marcano, also known as drag queen Alyssa, in Zaandam last month. Investigation revealed no significant conflicts in William’s life and it is still unclear whether the motive for his murder was linked to his sexual orientation, the fact that he was a drag queen, or that he worked as a sex worker on occasion, the police said on Opsporing Verzocht. “The police mainly hear how loved the victim was.”
William, a refugee from Venezuela, was found murdered in his home on Hogendijk in Zaandam during the early hours of Monday, January 20. He had moved into his home only weeks earlier.
The police believe that William was killed during the early hours of Saturday, January 18. At 00:42 a.m. he sent a text message indicating that he was with friends. His phone was last used around 4:00 a.m. The police are still trying to figure out who these friends were and asked anyone with information to come forward.
William sometimes had paid sex with clients out of necessity, using apps like Grindr for the purpose under his drag queen profile. The police believe that William received at least one client in his Zaandam apartment that night and would like help in identifying them.
William’s iPhone and some cash were missing from his apartment. The police haven’t been able to find the phone, an iPhone 13 Pro Max in the Sierra Blue color. It was in a transparent case. The police would like to talk to anyone with information about where this device may be.
