Bicycle manufacturer Cangoo recalls cargo bikes due to safety concerns
Bicycle manufacturing company Cangoo is recalling two types of cargo bikes because there is a chance that the frames are prone to breaking. The Cangoo Buckle and the Cangoo Noon are the two models in question. They have been sold since August 2021. The company has stated that hairline cracks can occur in the rear frame. “This can lead to a break in exceptional cases,” Cangoo warned.
The company reported that it has sold the Cangoo Noon and Cangoo Buckle in 1,907 cases in various European countries. In some cases, it has been found that the weld connection was broken.
Cangoo is calling on people who own these models to refrain from using them for the time being until they have been inspected and reinforced with a frame clamp. The owners of the cargo bikes can make an appointment for this at their local dealer. “Drive calmly (15 kilometers per hour), and hand the bicycle over to the dealer for inspection,” said the company.
Cangoo is the latest company to have to recall cargo bikes. Babboe, Vogue, and Carqon had to recall bicycles due to safety issues. Babboe is the most well-known of these cases. The company is likely to be the target of a mass claim lawsuit.
