Chinese New Year celebrations to take place in The Hague’s Chinatown
The Chinese New Year will be celebrated in The Hague on Saturday, with festivities taking place throughout the day in Chinatown, located in the city center. Organizers describe the event as "a special and colorful celebration."
For the Chinese community, 2025 marks the Year of the Snake and the beginning of the year 4723. The official opening will take place at 12:30 p.m., followed by a procession of "Chinese lions and dragons, accompanied by drumming and fireworks, through Chinatown until 6 p.m."
Chinese New Year is a very important holiday in Chinese culture. "This centuries-old tradition marks a new beginning centered on happiness and prosperity. Evil spirits are driven away, and all good things are welcomed," organizers said.
The celebration includes fireworks displays, such as hundred-thousand-firecracker chains, as well as a traditional dragon and lion dance parade.
