Jumbo issues urgent recall for its contaminated cornmeal, and Il Molino 00 wheat flour
Supermarket chain Jumbo has issued an urgent recall of two separate products due to health and safety concerns. The recalls affect Jumbo’s organic gluten-free cornmeal, and a soft wheat flour sold by Italian producer Molino Chiavazza.
Jumbo announced on its website that its organic gluten-free cornmeal contains unsafe levels of fumonisin, a toxic and potentially carcinogenic substance that can pose health risks if ingested. The product is sold in 400-gram packages with all expiration dates under Jumbo’s home brand.
Customers who purchased the flour are advised to stop using it immediately and return the product to the store for a refund, even without proof of purchase. “If people ingest this flour, it could be dangerous to their health,” Jumbo stated.
The second recall concerns Il Molino Chiavazza’s ‘00’ Soft Wheat Flour, sold in 500-gram packages in supermarkets, including Jumbo. According to the manufacturer, Molino F.lli Chiavazza S.p.A., the product may contain pests. The affected packages bear the production code B306484, with an expiration date of July 4, 2025 and EAN code 8009550007820.
Customers are urged not to use the product and to return it to the store where it was purchased. For further information, individuals can contact the distributor Bergfood BV by phone at 0162-476161 or via email at [email protected].
