Princess Amalia celebrates 21st birthday

Princess Amalia of the Netherlands, heir to the Dutch throne, celebrates her 21st birthday Saturday. As in previous years, the milestone is being marked privately, according to the Royal Information Service (RVD).

During a photo shoot earlier this year, Princess Amalia expressed her eagerness to meet people from "interesting backgrounds" and to learn from them. This year, the princess has already participated in several public events. She accompanied her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, along with her younger sister, Princess Alexia, to the Paris Olympics, where they supported Dutch athletes. Amalia witnessed equestrian Maikel van der Vleuten claim a bronze medal.

Looking ahead, the princess will attend the state banquet next week during the official visit of Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to the Netherlands. The banquet is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Princess Amalia has also received unique birthday tributes. The postal service of Sint Maarten, a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, issued a special golden stamp in her honor. Additionally, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam unveiled a wax figure of the princess earlier this week. Museum visitors were invited to leave birthday messages.
