Prime Minister Schoof participated in Amsterdam marathon under "Peter Jansen"

Prime Minister Dick Schoof participated in the Amsterdam marathon on Sunday under the pseudonym Peter Jansen. He ran the half marathon, the 21-kilometer, in a time of 1:53:00.

After the marathon, Schoof told an RTL Nieuws reporter that he chose to use a pseudonym “so that I could not be tracked.” His own first name was on his starting number, however.

He said he received encouragement from people who recognized him along the way. “Hey Dickie, hey Schoofie, hey, our Prime Minister,” Schoof said he heard.

Schoof also said that he was “completely ready” for the week after running the half-marathon.

On Monday evening, he will meet with PVV leader Geert Wilders and interim NSC leader Nicolien van Vroonhoven about the asylum emergency law. “Just as well as I ran that half marathon, the Cabinet will also reach the finish line,” Schoof said.
