PSV sends defender Jordan Teze to Monaco; Ajax loans Medic to Bochum
PSV announced on Tuesday that defender Jordan Teze has left the club to join AS Monaco in France. Teze played for the Eindhoven club for 17 years, coming through the PSV youth system. The fee is reported to be around 12 million euros for the Oranje international.
Teze joined the Eindhoven club in 2007 at eight years of age. He rose through the ranks and made his first team debut on 25 August 2018 against PEC Zwolle. Teze went on to win a league title with PSV and two KNVB Cups.
This transfer has not been without its share of controversy, as Teze had refused to play for the club until the move was arranged. PSV manager Peter Bosz confirmed this in a press conference. This led to many angry messages from PSV fans to Teze, who swiftly apologized and continued to play for the club coming off the bench last weekend against Heracles Almelo, even though his transfer had been agreed upon at that point.
Teze finishes his PSV career, having played 186 times for the first team and scoring four goals in that spell. He will join a Monaco side that will play in the UEFA Champions League this season and won their first league match of the season against Saint Etienne last weekend.
Ajax also lost one of their defenders on Tuesday, confirming the sale of Jakov Medic to German club VFL Bochum on loan. The Amsterdam club announced that the loan will last for the rest of this season, and the German club has the option to buy Medic at the end of it.
Medic joined Ajax from Saint Pauli and made a perfect start, scoring one of Ajax's best goals of the season in his debut against Heracles. But this was not a sign of things to come as the young German center-back lost his place in the struggling Ajax side.
He went on to play nine matches for the club in the season. "We have given Jakov the opportunity to look at other clubs because he cannot play enough at Ajax. It is good for both him and the club that he can continue his career in the Bundesliga, at least for this season. We have wished him much success."" Ajax general manager Alex Kroes said.
