Ajax defender Borna Sosa in Turin for transfer; Wout Weghorst could move to Amsterdam

Ajax left-back Borna Sosa has arrived in Italy to complete his transfer to the Italian club Torino from Turin. Photos show the Croatian posing with the club’s scarves at the airport in Milan.

Torino is planning on loaning the 26-year-old for a season if he passes the medical test. The club has the option of signing him permanently at the end of the season.

Ajax manager Francesco Farioli said that Sosa did not fit into his plans, and he was forced to train with the second team in the last few weeks. This was also the case for Owen Wijndal, Silvano Cos, Benjamin Tahirovic, and Naci Ünüvar. He was also not part of the squad that beat Panathinaikos in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

After two disappointing seasons, the Amsterdam club must sell players before it can buy. Last week, it confirmed the sale of Ajax goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to French club Olympique Marseille. The club is also interested in players like Daniel Rugani and Wout Weghorst.

Weghorst scored for the national side at last summer’s European Championships. He currently plays for Burnley in the English second division, the Championship. He spent last season on loan at German team Hoffenheim. Daniel Rugani is a center-back who plays for Juventus in Italy.
