Man, 23, stabbed to death on Amsterdam square; Police seek witnesses
A 23-year-old man from Amsterdam was stabbed to death on Hoofdorpplein in Amsterdam early on Friday morning. The police arrested a suspect in the area and are looking for witnesses and relevant camera footage.
The emergency services received the first report of the stabbing at around 2:00 a.m. on Friday. Responding police officers found the critically injured man on the square and started resuscitation. A trauma team took over when they arrived, but it was to no avail. The man died at the scene.
The police arrested a 55-year-old man with no registered place of residence for suspected involvement. The man was arrested in the area immediately after the stabbing. He is in custody for further investigation.
Investigators would like to get in touch with witnesses or anyone with dashcam or surveillance camera footage that may be relevant.
