Transavia flight to Marrakech returns to Amsterdam over aggressive passengers

Two passengers on a Transavia flight from Schiphol Airport to Marrakesh in Morocco behaved so badly that the pilot decided to turn the plane around and fly back to Amsterdam. The two were removed from the plane, which departed again with a 2.5-hour delay.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee told RTL Nieuws that it concerned two Dutch nationals who refused to follow the Transavia staff’s instructions and were verbally aggressive.

Transavia pressed charges against them, a spokesperson for the airline told the broadcaster. The spokesperson could not say what caused the unrest. A witness said the two persons were sitting in the wrong place.

The plane departed just after 5:00 p.m. and then turned around above the Belgium-France border. After the Koninklijke Marechaussee removed the two, the plane took off again from Schiphol at around 7:30 p.m.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee is a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for border security, including at the Dutch airports and seaports.
