Rail works setbacks: Still no trains running around Amersfoort
ProRail encountered several disruptions during railworks around Amersfoort that it hasn’t resolved yet, the railway manager reported on X. As a result, train traffic won’t restart around Amersfoort on Monday morning.
“A number of disruptions have remained in the work area,” a ProRail spokesperson explained. “We are now trying to resolve them with all our might. It is possible that we will have the green light in an hour, but it may also take a little longer. For the time being, no train traffic is possible. We advise travelers to keep an eye on the travel app.”
No trains have been running around Amersfoort for two weeks. ProRail replaced cables, switches, pipes, and 5 kilometers of track. The plan was to restart train traffic around Amersfoort from Monday.
Amersfoort is one of the busiest junctions in the Netherlands. The station connects the Randstad with the North and East of the Netherlands.
From Thursday, August 15, to Sunday, August 18, there will also be no trains around Amersfoort. Buses will run instead.
