A 35-year-old police officer has been arrested on suspicion of computer intrusion, violation of official secrecy, and corruption. The man, who lives in Alkmaar but works for the police unit in Amsterdam, was arrested on Tuesday by the National Police Internal Investigations Department, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) reported.
The man is suspected of selling information from the police system to third parties for a long time. The suspect’s home is being searched.
In addition to the police officer, three other people were arrested for involvement in the corruption. The other suspects are a 26-year-old man from Haarlem, a 32-year-old from Zaandam, and a 29-year-old from Amsterdam.
