KLM flight to Glasgow returns to Schiphol with technical fault

A KLM flight on its way from Amsterdam to Glasgow was forced to return to the Netherlands due to an unspecified technical fault. The Embraer 175 passenger jet was well on its way to the Scottish city when it turned around after nearing Newcastle, England, flight tracking websites showed.

None of the 73 passengers on board the aircraft were reported as injured. KLM flight 943 pulled back from the gate at Schiphol Airport outside of Amsterdam at about 8:25 p.m., and took off 12 minutes later. It touched down at about 9:57 p.m., and arrived at a gate a half-hour later.

A spokesperson for the airline told NH Nieuws that the decision to return to the Netherlands was precautionary. The passengers were put up on a hotel after arriving back in Amsterdam.

“They will be able to continue their journey to Glasgow on Tuesday morning,” the spokesperson said. The technical issue was not immediately disclosed.
